College football’s Southeastern Conference welcomes Texas A&M and Missouri into the fold with a family-friendly beachside celebration on Alabama’s beautiful Gulf Coast August 23 to 26. BeachFest 2012 will bring coaches, players and fans together to enjoy the sun, white sandy beaches and warm Gulf waters of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama. Billed as “A Championship Celebration,” the event will offer fans a chance to pick up game tips and talk preseason strategy with some of the winningest coaches in the BCS.
Among the many events planned are sports clinics led by legendary SEC coaches past and present, including national championship winners Nick Saban, Les Miles and Gene Chizik. BeachFest 2012 is sure to draw plenty of dedicated SEC football fans but will also offer a nice variety of family-friendly activities that promise to make the event equally entertaining for casual football fans. Scheduled activities include a golf scramble, 5K run and one-mile fun run, waffle breakfast, concerts by the B-52s and Dr. John, games and prizes.
If you plan your Alabama beaches vacation during BeachFest, plan to arrive early or stay late so you can enjoy all that Gulf Shores and Orange Beach have to offer. Less well-known than their Florida cousins, Alabama beaches offer the same gorgeous white sand beaches, clear emerald waters, sport fishing, water sports, vacation activities, restaurants and luxurious beach vacation rentals as Destin and Panama City Beach but without the crowds.
